  • Jean-Paul Duminy, with his 62 off 54 balls, became the first player to post five fifties in the IPL 2009.

  • Mahendra Singh Dhoni, during the course of his unbeaten 23 off 22 balls, has completed his 1,000 runs in Twenty20 - 1014 (ave.37.55), including five fifties, in 44 matches.

  • With his unbeaten 60 off 57 balls, Hayden became the second player after Jean-Paul Duminy to post five fifties in the IPL 2009.

  • Mumbai Indians have conceded 26 runs as extras - the worst tally in the IPL 2009. Overall, the said tally of Mr.Extras is the second worst in the history of the IPL. Deccan Chargers had conceded 28 in Kolkata Knight Riders' 112 for five off 19 overs at Kolkata on April 20, 2008.

  • Gilchrist and Hayden now share the record for most sixes in the IPL 2009 - they have 21 sixes each.

  • Hayden has received his third MOM award in the IPL.

  • Chennai Super Kings' seven-wicket triumph is their seventh in twelve games.

  • Mumbai Indians recorded their seventh loss in 13 matches and their tally of seven defeats is exceeded only by Kolkata Knight Riders (9).

  • With Parthiv Patel's wicket, Lasith Malinga is the top wicket-taker in the second edition, claiming 17 wickets at an average of 16.11 in twelve matches.

  • Parthiv Patel is the ninth player to be dismissed off the first legitimate ball of a team's innings,

  • Matthew Hayden is the first player to have completed 500 runs in the IPL 2009 - 546 at an average of 54.60, including five fifties, in eleven matches.

  • Suresh Raina's tally of 763 is exceeded only by Adam Gilchrist (765). Gautam Gambhir (738), Sanath Jayasuriya (735) and Matthew Hayden (735) are the other three batsmen in the 700-run club in the IPL.
