Michael Laudrup signs new Swansea contract

Laudrup was reportedly drawing admiring glances from Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City. But with a Europa League campaign lying ahead for Swansea next season, he wants to carry on the good work he has started.

London: Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup ended speculation over his immediate future on Friday by signing a one-year contract extension with the Premier League club.

Laudrup had been linked with a move to several of Europe's top clubs after an impressive first season in charge at the Liberty Stadium.

The former Real Madrid and Barcelona star guided Swansea to their first major trophy in the club's 100-year history when they routed Bradford City 5-0 in the League Cup final and he has also earned plaudits for the team's eye-catching style of play.
