Reds boss Brendan Rodgers vows to splash the cash

Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain, also a target for Arsenal, is among those reported to be on Rodgers' wanted list. "Our recruitment team are doing a great job behind the scenes in compiling lists of players that we can afford and might be available for us," Rodgers said on Thursday.

London: Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admits he is keen to make several major signings before the start of the new Premier League campaign.

Rodgers has already brought in four players since the end of last season, with Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, Manchester City defender Kolo Toure, Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas and Barcelona B midfielder Luis Alberto all arriving at Anfield in recent weeks.

But having missed out on £20 million-rated Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Henrik Mkhitaryan, who joined Borussia Dortmund, Rodgers is now turning his attention to other players capable of making an instant impact for the Reds, who once again failed to qualify for the Champions League last term.
