Johannesburg: Manchester City strengthened its striking options ahead of the new season by completing the signings of Alvaro Negredo from Sevilla and Stevan Jovetic from Fiorentina on Friday.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini had prioritized signing strikers after selling both Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez in recent months.

The 27-year-old Negredo, who joined for a reported 20 million pounds ($30 million), was the fourth top scorer in La Liga last season as he took his tally with Sevilla since joining in 2009 to 20 goals in 139 appearances. He has also played 14 times for Spain.
