Gurgaon:India captain Bhaichung Bhutia on Wednesday said the ongoing tussle with Mohun Bagan club has become a distraction for him ahead of the Nehru Cup and he would meet All India Football Federation (AIFF) officials on Friday to resolve the issue.
Bhutia, who was suspended by Mohun Bagan for missing an exhibition match, said the continuing impasse is not letting him concentrate on the Nehru Cup, which kicks off on August 19 here.
"The matter has been going on for two months now. It has been distracting me. I am not able to concentrate on the Nehru Cup preparations," Bhutia told reporters after a practice session here.
"I have requested AIFF to find a solution to the matter before the Nehru Cup. I am meeting AIFF officials on August 14," he revealed.
Bhutia said the suspension was not justified because he missed only one match.
"They suspended me without pay for six months for missing only one match. Please tell me is it a fair decision?" he asked.
Bhutia was suspended in June and subsequently left the club to join East Bengal but has continued to fight the six-month suspension imposed by Bagan.
