Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko has a groin injury and will miss the Blues' last two Premier League games of the season and the FA Cup final.
The Ukraine international will have an operation on Tuesday.
"The decision was taken by the Chelsea medical department to bring the operation forward," Chelsea said in a statement on Monday. "It had originally been scheduled for after the end of the season."
Shevchenko moved to Chelsea from AC Milan at the beginning of the season, and has had a difficult relationship with manager Jose Mourinho. He has scored 14 goals in all competitions.
Chelsea plays champions Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday and hosts Everton on Sunday. The Blues play Man United in the FA Cup final on May 19.
