Barcelona have been struggling in the Spanish League since their 3-1 win over Liverpool and they were soon in trouble again, this time at home against Galatasaray. It was the Turkish side's Umit Karan who headed the opening goal after five minutes, his third goal in the Champions League so far. At the 11th minute Barcelona could have equalised but Cocu's header hit the post. Barcelona got yet another chance in the 24th minute but Rivaldo's free kick was well saved by the keeper. Five minutes before half time Galatasaray doubled their lead. Uruguay's Jose Fleurquin scored off the rebound. Marc Overmars came on after the first half, and it paid immediate dividends. The Dutch striker with a nice back heel to Javier Saviola, who fired from inside the penalty area as Barca pulled one back. The 61st minute saw Galatasaray playing only with ten players after Emre was shown the red card for having fouled Overmars. Barcelona succeeded in getting their second goal in the 65th minute. They could have taken the lead in the 73rd minute but Rivaldo's shot went wide and the Catalan giants had to be content with a two all draw. They now have a long winter break before they take on as Roma at home.
