Appiano Gentile:Inter Milan fans and the world of football hopes Brazilian striker Ronaldo will make his long-awaited comeback. The striker is expected to play against Parma in the opening Serie A game on Sunday. The 24-year-old has missed the last season due to a serious knee injury sustained during a brief appearance in the Italian Cup final against Lazio, 17 months ago. Ronaldo has now declared himself fit and is ready for selection by new coach Hector Cuper who joined the Italian club from Valencia. In an Inter's pre-season game last Friday, against French side Bastia the former Barcelkonian striker scored twice. However, he has urged his fans to be patient as he tries to return to the kind of form that saw him crowned as the world's best footballer at the age of 22. Ronaldo's return to fitness will be a major boost for his home country who are on the verge of not qualifying for the World Cup final in Japan next year. Brazil play Chile in a must-win game on October 7 and Ronaldo says he is available for selection although stressing that he first needs to get back into shape with some games for Inter.
