Christian Vieri fired Inter Milan into the fourth round of the UEFA Cup, scoring a hat-trick to help the Serie A leaders to a 4-2 aggregate victory over English Premier League side Ipswich in their third round, second leg tie at the San Siro stadium on Thursday. Inter easily over turned a 1-0 deficit into a fully deserved win. Turkey's Belozoglu Emre delivered a dangerous cross from a free kick and Christain Vieri was spot on. Inter missed a chance to score another goal just three minutes later after a shot from Mohammed Kallon was stopped by Matteo Sereni. Inter's relentless attack paid dividends in the 35th miniute. Vratislav Gresko's shot from a free kick was intercepted by Vieri who volleyed in his second goal of the night. Inter would have added another goal just four minutes later, but Kallon's shot from just inside the box was punched away by the Ipswich goalkeeper. Ipswich's hopes of a comeback were all but dashed in the first minute of the second half when Vieri's header set Kallon loose inside the visitor's penalty area. Soon it was 3-0. Despite a few dampeners, it was Vieri's night as he completed his hat-trick after sprinting clear of the visitors defence in the 71st minute. Ipswich were handed a consolation goal after Javier Zanetti handled the ball giving away a penalty giving Inter their well-deserved win.Topics mentioned in this article
