Punjab from cluster-4 defeated Uttar Pradesh 4-0 after leading 2-0 at half time, while Orissa from cluster-6 made it to the quarter-finals league due to better points even though Delhi beat Chandigarh 5-0 in the last league match but managed just three points while Orissa have four points to their credit. Railways too made it to the last eight despite losing to Andhra Pradesh 0-1 with a first half goal. Railways had earlier beaten AP 4-0 and made it to the quarter-finals through better goal average.
