It was a dream run and football fans in Kolkata have been painting the town red - rather yellow and red. East Bengal became the first Indian football club to win a major international tournament when they beat BEC Tero Sasana in the LG ASEAN Cup final in Jakarta and fans have been giving the club a victory lap. “We are very happy. This is the first time that a club from India has done so well. The government should now pay attention to football in India,” said a football fan. The Kolkata club, who are India's National Football League Champions, beat Thailand's BEC Tero Sasana 3-1. Baichung Bhutia, who scored nine goals in the tournament, was adjudged the player of the tournament.
