Brasilia:For most sport lovers the best part of the new friendship between India and Brazil is the offer Brazil has made to help Indian football.
Brazil says football is the country's best ambassador and it is determined to put its best foot forward to help India out.
Brazilians love to play footsie with the ball. In local clubs, on the seashore, in every neighbourhood in Brazil, you find people having a passionate ball with the game. India is keen to import some of that passion.
"I am sure when India loses its passion for cricket, it will become an obvious place for excellent football. But football is a passion, if there is no passion, you are not going to be good at it.
"For example, the US is very competitive but not passionate about football, they even call it soccer," said Roberto Jaguaribe, Undersecretary of Political Affairs for Asia.
The new friendship brought the best Brazilian football teams of the past two years to India on an exhibition of games. Brazil says the sport is undoubtedly the country's best ambassador.
"Football is the best ambassador of Brazil. It conveys our values and culture," said Jaguaribe.
Many believe that the Brazil influence could be the intensive care treatment Indian football badly needs.
Brazil's football diplomacy has already made a beginning with goodwill goals scored in Indian hearts.
