Brazilian star Kaka has announced that he is fully prepared for the World Cup in Germany. Kaka, who scored one of Brazil's goals in the 8-0 win against Swiss club FC Lucerne on Tuesday, said that he was refreshed from the gruelling European season and keen to begin the defending champions' World Cup bid. "I could play tomorrow if I had to. I am already 100 per cent ready, although just a bit anxious as the opener approaches," said Kaka. Despite the easy victory against the Swiss club, Kaka said that some minor adjustments were still needed before the national team faces Croatia on June 13 in Berlin. "We are getting close, but there are still some things to do. We need to work a bit more on our positioning," said the 24-year-old midfielder. Kaka, who has earned a permanent spot in the Brazilian team, had only managed to play a few minutes in a first-round match in the 2002 World Cup, and Germany 2006 will be his first World Cup as a starter for Brazil. Edmilson dropped However, on a different note, midfielder Edmilson, who has been suffering from a knee injury, has been dropped from Brazil's World Cup squad. Brazil doctor Jose Luiz Runco has confirmed that Edmilson, who was undergoing treatment for a rupture in his right-knee meniscus, would not be able to recover in time for the team's campaign in Germany and will be returning home for surgery. The Barcelona and Brazil midfielder had been complaining about pain in his knee ever since the second-leg of the Champions League semifinal between Barca and Milan. A dejected Edmilson thanked his fans and family for their support and added that, "I was feeling pain but was playing with heart, giving all I had. But unfortunately, it was just too much." Brazil has announced that the Sao Paulo midfielder Mineiro will be called to replace Edmilson. (AP)
