Seville:
Brazilian World Cup winning midfielder Denilson looks set to miss the rest of the season after his Spanish First Division club Real Betis revealed today he has to undergo a right knee operation. The 25-year-old had to go off after only half an hour of Sunday's league match with Malaga and the most optimistic prognosis was he would be out for about six weeks. "There is no other solution but to operate," said the surgeon Santiago Perez Hidalgo. "His cartilage tears are getting worse." Denilson, who was the world's most expensive player when he signed for Betis in 1997 for $42 million, has already undergone one knee operation following Brazil's 2-0 victory over Germany in the World Cup final.
