Manchester:
Manchester City has set up a deal to sign Greek striker Georgios Samaras from Dutch club Heerenveen, to replace Robbie Fowler. City said it had agreed to a transfer fee of about 6 million pounds and will now discuss personal terms with the 20-year-old forward. The move has been pending for several days. Samaras reportedly refused to train with Heerenveen because he felt that the club's initial valuation of 9 million pounds was too high. But the clubs have since agreed on a free, and City wants to sign the striker on a four-and-half year contract. The news comes after the surprise decision to sell Fowler to Liverpool on a free transfer until the end of the season. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
