Athens:
More than 200 youths attacked the manager and players of Panathinaikos Athens after the soccer club lost a key weekend league game. The angry fans ran riot during a team training session, smashing cars and property and clashing with riot police. Thirty youths were detained and three policemen were injured. The violence occurred after Panathinaikos was beaten 0-3 on Sunday by Olympiakos Piraeus and all but lost a chance to break its archrival's six-season title streak. Panathinaikos manager Sergio Markarian - who's future at the club is in serious doubt - was struck by fans as were several players. None were hospitalised, authorities said. With just one round left in the league, Olympiakos and Panathinaikos each have 67 points, but the Piraeus club has the advantage in head-to-head encounters this season and is now favourite to win the title.
