Kolkata:
East Bengal paid for a slow and unimaginative attack to settle for a goalless draw against their less fancied rivals Air India in the National Football League match on Sunday. With the tame draw, East Bengal's tally stood at nine point from five matches while Airmen culled four points from as many outings. East Bengal started off with characteristics aggression and set up scoring opportunities on at least two occasions within 15 minutes. Nigerian Mike Okoro had only the goalkeeper Sundar Rajan to beat in the ninth minute while Bhaichung Bhutia delayed a shot after nicely chest tapping an Okoro cross from the left barely five minute later. East Bengal's new foreign recruit Endem Guy, who was adjudged man of the match, showed some urgency in the red and gold's frontline, particularly in the early session. However, as the match progressed, the hosts seemed to get frustrated. They failed to penetrate the defence wall, giving the tourists some free space to switch on to the attacking mode.
