Barcelona:
Barcelona's Rafael Marquez has extended his contract with the European champions. Marquez, whose previous deal expired in 2007, reportedly signed until 2010, joining teammates Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto'o, Carles Puyol, Deco and Lionel Messi, all of whom are under contract until then. The Mexico captain is expected to receive a salary increase while reports said his buy-out clause has risen from $31.4 million to $125.6 million. "My priority has always been Barcelona, so I am happy at having renewed my contract," said Marquez. The 27-year-old Marquez joined Barcelona from AS Monaco in 2003 and has played as a midfielder and a defender to help the club win last season's Champions League together with back-to-back Spanish league titles.
