Zurich:
The 2010 World Cup will take place in South Africa as planned, FIFA President Sepp Blatter said on Tuesday, denying reports that the tournament might be moved elsewhere. "Media reports that the 2010 World Cup will be held in a different country are completely groundless. The 2010 FIFA World Cup will take place in South Africa," Blatter said in a statement. Some reports have suggested FIFA might look for an alternative host because of concerns over transportation problems and delays in stadium construction in South Africa. South Africa will be the first African nation to host the World Cup. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
