Ibusuki, Japan:
France, the defending World and European champions, held their first training session in Japan after arriving in the country on Monday. Most bookmakers have France as equal favourite with Argentina for the World Cup finals, which begin on May 31. France will play Senegal in the opening match of the event and will play in Group A along with Denmark and Uruguay. The defending World Cup champions had their first full workout on the tiny sea resort of Ibusuki on Tuesday. With the exception of Zinedine Zidane, who is back in France with his wife and newborn baby, all the first team players were seen in practice. The Real Madrid superstar is scheduled to join the squad before Saturday, when they move to Seoul to prepare for the opening match of the World Cup against Senegal on May 31. Almost all of the French team has just finished long, exhausting seasons with Italian, Spanish and English League clubs. (SNTV)Topics mentioned in this article
