Fifteen players of three fancied city outfits Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting would be handed out punishments by the Indian Football Association for indulging in on-field violence and assaulting the referee in two Kolkata super division football league matches. "We have identified those involved in the incidents. The disciplinary sub-committee will spell out the punishement for the players on September 16," IFA secretary Subrata Dutta said. Besides, action would also be taken against three club officials of Mohun Bagan and East Bengal for ill-behaving with match officials and entering the technical area without permission, he added. IFA, which summoned 15 players at the soccer governing body's office for appearing before the league sub-committee, relieved Bagan defenders Rishi Kapoor and Sanjib Maria, but included their star striker Jose Barreto and East Bengal's Nigerian forward Mike Okoro in the list of those guilty. Three other East Bengal players – Mahesh Gawli, Debjit Ghosh and Deepak Mondal – and five Bagan footballers – Lolendra Singh, Marcos Pereira, Abhay Kumar, Basudeb Mondal and Mehtab Hossain – were also found guilty, Dutta said. Besides, all the five Sporting players summoned today – skipper Dipendu Biswas, Sk Sanjib, Hussain Mustafi, Zaheer Abbas and Amjad Ali Khan – would also be awarded punishment for their 'misconduct' during the August 19 league match against East Bengal.
