Mumbai:Star striker Chima Okerie has taken over as coach and CEO of the Mumbai Bengal Football Club, whose members include Sourav Ganguly and Javed Akhtar. The Nigerian football star, who ruled the National Football League about a decade ago, is now trying to get this seven-year-old club to graduate from NFL 2 to the main league. His strategy is to pick young talent and motivate them. "My aim is to move BMFC forward from where they are today to the national league to start challenging for the national honours," said Chima. "Now I have got about 25 to 30 players to play with. They are kids, youngsters very eager and I have told them 'look if you want to be a star you have come to the right place but you have to show me the hunger' and all of them are showing me what I want. So all through the year I am looking for players," he added. CEO Chima also plans to generate enough revenue so that the club can begin to sustain itself. Other plans include creating an entertainment complex around the BMFC club that they plan to build a little outside Mumbai and even begin a ladies football team. The club acknowleges that miracles will not happen overnight and that their team has to begin to perform to gain popularity so that they are able to attract sponsors and spectators. And Chima says he hopes to cash in on the FIFA World Cup Fever which is still on in many parts of the country.
