Kolkata:Mohun Bagan's chances in the Champions League came to a grinding halt today as Korea's Taejon Citizen beat them 2-1 in the qualifying rounds of the third round in Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium. Earlier, the Koreans had thrashed Mohun Bagan 6-0 in the Daejon Stadium. "We really enjoyed playing this match against Mohun Bagan. They played well and tried hard," said Korean coach, Lee Tae Ho. But the local team was quite clearly outclassed by Taejon Citizen. For the handful of Koreans who were there to cheer on their team, it called for a celebration. "We are very happy, not just because we have won but because Mohun Bagan also tried and did well," said a Korean supporter. The Indians blamed their poor performance on extremely cold weather, but privately, the defeat on their homeground caused some serious soul-searching. "Yes, we have to be more united - I told my players that. I have to admit that there is no Indian team that can beat this team," said Subrata Bhattacharya, Coach, Mohun Bagan. While Taejon Citizens advance to the next round, Mohun Bagan will have to lick their wounds and concentrate on the National League next month.
