Villarreal took on visiting Real Zaragoza at El Madrigal Stadium on Sunday. Champions League semi-finalists last season - Spanish La Liga were misfits this time round. And Villarreal's woes appeared to be mounting when Pablo Aimar gave Real Zaragoza a 22nd minute lead. Coming into their fourth fixture of the season, Manuel Pellegrini's men hadn't even been able to muster a goal. Comeback All that changed in El Madrigal in the second half as Villarreal refound their potency. Ruben 'Cani' Gracia set them on their way in the 49th minute. And Diego Forlan put them ahead with an unusual volley after an hour. There was no shortage of attacking endeavour from both sides, contributing to an exciting match. But Zaragoza discarded any realistic hopes of a comeback when Gabriel Milito's less-than-subtle handball ended his contribution. He presented Argentina international Juan Roman Riquelme with the opportunity to make it 3-1 with 10 minutes remaining. There was late scare when Gerard Pique - on loan from Manchester United - scored a second for Zaragoza. All that did though was immediately prompt the final whistle, sealing a 3-2 win for the hosts. They will be hoping it is the first of many successes. (AP)
