Georgia scored two first-half goals to beat Malta 2-0 in a friendly on Wednesday, giving newly appointed coach Klaus Toppmoeller his first win. Otar Martsvaladze took advantage of a defensive mishap to open the scoring in the eighth minute. Ten minutes later, Jaba Kankava's header made it 2-0 after Malta goalkeeper Justin Haber's error. Kankava was sent off in the 57th for violent conduct. Malta's only real chance in the second half was a shot from Michael Mifsud which went wide. Georgia was missing Kakha Kaladze of AC Milan and Zurab Khizanishvili of Blackburn Rovers. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
