Eindhoven, Netherlands:
Bordeaux scored three first-half goals on Tuesday to beat PSV Eindhoven 3-1 in the Champions League. Julien Faubert, Stephane Dalmat and Jean-Claude Darcheville scored in the first 40 minutes to give Bordeaux the win and match the French club's total goal tally from its first five Champions League matches. Defender Alex scored a consolation goal in the 87th minute for PSV. PSV finished second in Group C with 10 points. Liverpool, which lost 3-2 at Galatasaray on Tuesday, topped the group with 13 points. Bordeaux has four points and moves into the UEFA Cup. PSV already was assured of qualification for the next round ahead of the match and Koeman rested defenders Carlos Salcido and Manuel da Costa along with striker Arouna Kone and midfielder Ibrahim Afellay. But the changes took away PSV's defensive and attacking structure and allowed Bordeaux to overrun the Dutch team in the first half itself. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
