US midfielder Pablo Mastroeni will be sidelined for six to eight weeks after partially tearing his left quadriceps during practice. Mastroeni plays for the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer, and was hurt during training with the US team, which is preparing for World Cup warm up games. He appeared in 11 games with the national team last year, increasing his career total to 43, and in nine of 18 qualifiers for the 2006 World Cup. Kansas City Wizards midfielder Kerry Zavagnin was added to the training camp roster on Tuesday. The US team has announced that it will play Guatemala in a World Cup warm up game on February 19 at the new soccer stadium in Frisco, Texas. The Americans open this year's schedule against Canada on January 22 at San Diego, play Norway seven days later at Carson, and meet Japan on February 10 at San Francisco. They also play Poland at Kaiserslautern, Germany on March 1, a game that has not been officially set, and meet World Cup host Germany at Dortmund on March 22. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
