Milan:
UEFA will decide on Friday on the action to be taken, after crowd trouble forced the Champions League quarterfinal between AC and Inter Milan to be abandoned. The second leg was halted last night when Milan keeper Dida was hit as Inter fans threw burning flares onto the pitch. Plastic bottles and fireworks were among the objects launched from behind the Milan keeper's goal. Dida had played superbly before being hit by the flare, but Inter fans were upset that a goal by Esteban Cambiasso was annulled for a foul in the 71st. Disciplinary action German referee Markus Merk made a swift decision to suspend the action and take both sets of players off the Giuseppe Meazza pitch and into the dressing rooms. Now, UEFA's disciplinary body will discuss whether to replay the whole game, just the last 17 minutes or award the win to Milan, who have a 3-0 aggregate lead. However, if the incident is deemed serious enough, the Club could be banned from playing in the Champions League next season. (With AP inputs)Topics mentioned in this article
