London:Former England captain Alan Shearer confirmed on Saturday that he has retired from club football. Shearer suffered a ligament tear against Sunderland in a premiership game on Monday, a game he scored in. And although the 35-year-old was optimistic of returning for the last three Premiership games he told an English newspaper that 'he was finished'. He had announced his international retirement in 2000 after England was eliminated in the first round. In a career spanning ten years and three clubs, Shearer scored 63 goals for England and 379 goals in domestic competitions in 733 appearances.
