Istanbul, Turkey: Schalke 04 ignored poor recent form to draw 1-1 with Galatasaray in the Champions League last 16, first-leg clash Wednesday as the hosts' star signings Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder failed to fire.

Turkey striker Burak Yilmaz gave Galatasaray an early lead at the Turk Telekom Arena, but US midfielder Jermaine Jones equalised on the stroke of half-time to give Schalke a slim advantage ahead of the March 12 second leg.
