Madrid:
Manchester United assistant coach Carlos Queiroz has said his club doesn't want to sign Real Madrid striker Michael Owen or goalkeeper Iker Casillas. "Owen is not a player who interests us. I admire Casillas, but he's not in Manchester's plans," Queiroz told Radio Marca. Owen has been reported as a possible United target this summer after the team had scoring problems last season. While the England striker ended the season on a high after winning a place on the first team, Madrid's interest in Brazil's emerging star Robinho has fueled speculation that he may be offloaded. Spanish international Casillas has also been the subject of transfer rumors. He is yet to renew his contract with Madrid. Queiroz, who rejoined United in 2004 after being fired by Madrid at the end of a disappointing season in charge, also said his club had made no moves toward signing the unsettled Luis Figo. However, he praised the Portuguese veteran, who has fallen out with Madrid coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo after his omission for the final eight games of the season. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
