Madrid: Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has said his club rejected a 17 million euro ($22.1m, £14.5m) bid from West Ham for Spanish international Alvaro Negredo back in April.

The Andalusians accepted an offer of around 20 million euros for their other Spanish international star, Jesus Navas, on Monday night and Del Nido is hoping that the money generated from that transfer will mean they will be able to keep a hold of Negredo over the coming months.

"When he had scored 16 goals this season, in the game against Athletic Bilbao, West Ham offered 17 million with three million more in add-ons," he told the club's website on Tuesday.
