Eto'o shortlisted for prestigious award
Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o was among five African soccer players shortlisted for 2005 African Player of the Year award.

Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o was among five African soccer players shortlisted for 2005 African Player of the Year award. The FC Barcelona forward, who has won the CAF award the last two years, is trying to become the second player to win the award three years in a row. Abedi Pele of Ghana is the other, winning from 1991-93. The other finalists for this year's award are Didier Drogba of Ivory Coast, Michael Essien of Ghana, Emmanuel Adebayor of Togo and Chamakh Maroune of Morocco. The Player of Year and other award winners will be announced on Jan. 9 in Abuja, Nigeria. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
