The beautiful game for a worthy cause

Football teams from Delhi Police Child and Youth Development Programme centers participated in the Mohalla Football Festival 2013 organised by TheFootballLink Trust and Delhi Police. This was a step to support underprivileged children.

In a bid to use football as a tool to encourage social change, Delhi-based NGO TheFootballLink Trust organised the Mohalla Football Festival 2013 from October 9 to November 1. The matches, organised in collaboration with Delhi Police, were held at the Ambedkar Stadium and Delhi Armed Police Grounds, Vikaspuri.

The tournament ended on Friday as Nick Gates and Nora Dooley from Coaches across Continents conducted a session on 'Child Development techniques through sports'. More than 60 Delhi Police mentors and football coaches in the capital took part in the session.

On October 31, football teams representing Child and Youth Development Programme centers, surrounding slums and partner NGOs participated in Under-12, Under-15 and Under-19 categories. The winners of the Under-19, Under-15 and Under-12 categories were Magic Bus NGO, TheFootballLink-Vikaspuri Police Center and My Angels Academy, respectively.
