Monaco:
Monaco's French league titles hopes suffered a severe setback on Saturday with the 1-0 home defeat against Nantes. After their heroics earlier in the week in the Champions' League against Chelsea, perhaps predictably Monaco's French League fixture against Nantes on Saturday proved a major anticlimax. Everything - from the attendance onwards - was low-key - except for Didier Deschamps' agitation level. His side may have shocked many in Europe with their display during the 3-1 win against Chelsea - but Deschamps remains the realist. The title is still a major priority - yet his team looked as though they were still dreaming of European glory. In a game of few chances, Monaco spurned theirs - and were punished for it late in the game. Not even the arrival of Fernando Morientes - a wizard in the Champions League - could shake Monaco out of their torpor. Marama Vahirua hit what proved to be the only goal of the game after 77 minutes. It moves Nantes closer to a UEFA Cup position. And with Lyon winning 3-0 against Rennes, Monaco now trail by four points in the battle for Le Championnat.(AP)Topics mentioned in this article
