Kolkata:Becoming the first team to win back-to-back titles in the National Football League is not enough for East Bengal. The Kolkata club has set its sights much higher starting with the AFC Asian Cup where they are just one point away from reaching the quarter-finals. East Bengal clinched their third National Football League title with a win over Indian Bank. However, the season isn't quite over for East Bengal who are already looking at scaling new heights. "Winning the NFL is a big success but remember whatever you win becomes history. So you have to continuously look to the future," said Baichung Bhutia. Part of those future plans are when they play Geyland United of Singapore in Kolkata next. Even a draw from that game will take them into the quarter-finals of the inaugural AFC Cup, which is the UEFA Cup equivalent of Asia. "We are the champions but we must remember that our main target is the AFC Cup," said Subhash Bhowmick, coach, East Bengal. East Bengal already winners of the ASEAN club championship last year have another honour to look forward to. They have been invited to play in Leicester this summer against the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Boca Juniors.
