Maracaibo:
Kaka and Ronaldo scored two goals apiece as Brazil thrashed Venezuela 5-2 to regain the top spot in South America's World Cup qualifying group. They added a fifth goal through Adriano before Ruberth Moran became the first man to score for Venezuela's against Brazil in 11 years with two late goals. Brazil dominated most of the game with precise passing, epitomised by man-of-the-match Ronaldinho. Brazil, the five-time world champions, improved their World Cup qualifying record against Venezuela to 16-0. They now lead the 10-team qualifying group with 19 points from nine matches. Argentina lie second with 18 points. The top four teams in the group qualify for the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany, while the fifth-place team plays the Oceania winner for another berth. Brazil faces Colombia at home on Wednesday, while Venezuela hosts Ecuador on Tuesday. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
