Buenos Aires: One person was killed and three hurt when football hooligans in Argentina shot at each other Wednesday, in the latest violence to tarnish the sport in the country.

Police rushed in and fired rubber bullets and tear gas to separate rival fans from the Ituzaingo club in the fifth tier of Argentine football, witnesses said.

The clashes, which erupted outside Ituzaingo's stadium west of Buenos Aires, saw the game against visiting Victoriano Arenas postponed because the tear gas drifted into the arena.
