Kolkata :

A big question mark hangs over the further participation of seasoned player Jo Paul Ancheri in the ongoing national soccer camp after the player suffered a right knee injury during training. "He is virtually ruled out. But I can give you the final picture once I get his MRI report tomorrow," said chief national coach Stephen Constantine. Among the 35 probables named for the camp for the LG Cup in Vietnam beginning from August 22, and the pre-World Cup match against Japan, three players Vimal Pariyar, M Suresh and Freddie Mascarenhas have stayed away due to injury. Increasing Constantine's worry, East Bengal has refused to release their eight footballers before August 12 saying it would affect the team's pre-season conditioning under English physical trainer Peter Mcnight. The remaining 24 players including Ancheri practised are under the watchful eyes of Constantine and assistant coach Aloke Mukherjee, but with the veteran's injury, the number of available footballers in the camp may go further down.
