Camp Nou, Barcelona:
Although Atletico posed a threat in the early stages, it was the Catalan side who went ahead in the 15th minute.
It followed a dreadful mistake from Christian Abbiati, Atletico's Italian 'keeper spilling Lionel Messi's cross.
The ball fell into the path of Deco, and he gratefully tapped in to put Barca 1-0 up. The second goal was not long in coming.
Messi played a one-two with Ronaldinho and the Argentine fired a precise low shot past Abbiati and into the corner - his sixth Primera Liga goal of the season.
Frank Rijkaard's side then could have added a third goal after 38 minutes, when Messi found Ronaldinho in space but the Brazilian sent his effort just wide. In the second half, Atletico began to threaten a little more.
But Barca's keeper Victor Valdes saved from Atletico substitute Maxi Rodriguez in the 64th minute and that was as close as the visitors came to scoring.
Barcelona wrapped up victory with a superb third in the last minute of the game. Deco fed substitute Giovani Dos Santos and the Mexican in turn picked out the unmarked Xavi, who slotted the ball home. Three-nil the final score.
Real Madrid head the standings with 19 points from seven games, but Barcelona are just two points behind in second place. Atletico are sixth, eight points behind Real.
