Paris:Nancy held Paris Saint-Germain to a 0-0 draw Saturday and closed the gap on French league leader Lyon to three points.
Nancy, which has played one game less than Lyon, managed to keep PSG's attack quiet at Parc des Princes and dominated the second half.
Cameroon midfielder Landry N'Guemo almost won the match for Nancy when his shot hit the post in the 87th.
Nancy has 28 points from 13 rounds, while Lyon has 31 points from 14. PSG has not yet won at home this season and has 16 points.
Earlier, Tulio De Melo scored two penalties and Le Mans beat Saint-Etienne 3-2.
De Melo gave Le Mans the lead from the spot in the 19th minute, only for Saint-Etienne to move ahead through Cedric Varrault's 21st-minute goal and a penalty from David Gigliotti in the 42nd.
Ndri Romaric leveled for Le Mans a minute later with a powerful free kick from 20 meters (yards) and De Melo netted the winner with another penalty in the 70th.
It was the Brazilian striker's ninth league goal of the season, putting him two behind leading scorer Karim Benzema of Lyon.
Last weekend, Saint-Etienne led 2-0 at Lens but lost the match 3-2.
The win gives Le Mans 23 points after 14 rounds, while Saint-Etienne has 18 points.
In Saturday's other matches, it was: Lille 1, Nice 1; Metz 1, Lens 2; Monaco 3, Strasbourg 0; Paris Saint-Germain 0, Nancy 0; Sochaux 1, Auxerre 1, and Valenciennes 3, Caen 0.
Thomas Kahlenberg gave Auxerre the lead with a penalty in the ninth minute, and Romain Pitau netted the equalizer for Sochaux in the last minute.
At Valenciennes, Filip Sebo opened the scoring in the 16th and added another in the 43rd, before Steve Savidan made it 3-0 in the 61st.
Lille took the lead through Nicolas Fauvergue's 16th-minute goal, but defender Nicolas Plestan scored in his own net to level in the 41st.
Serge Gakpe gave Monaco the lead just before the interval and Brazilian midfielder Nene netted two more goals in the second half.
Olivier Monterrubio got the opener for Lens in the 57th, and Wilmer Aguirre equalized for Metz in the 70th. Lens midfielder Seid Khiter got the winner in the 86th. Metz is in last place with seven points.
On Sunday, Marseille plays at leader Lyon, Bordeaux hosts Rennes and Lorient faces Toulouse. Lyon has seven straight wins in all competitions.
