Bridgetown:
Barbados' Dwayne McClean, earning his first cap, outmuscled Pablo Malgar for a Norman Forde cross, but sent the ball high in the 85th minute.
Freddy Thomson had Guatemala's best chance in injury time when his free kick was fumbled by Barbados keeper Omari Eastmond, also making his international debut, but none of the Central Americans could pounce on the loose ball before Eastmond recovered.
The match, played before a crowd of about 2,500, was the first of two in four days for Guatemala as it prepares for the CONCACAF Gold Cup in June. Guatemala also will face the United States in Frisco, Texas, on Wednesday.
