Montevideo, Uruguay:
Diego Godin gave Nacional the lead in the 33rd minute and Gonzalo Castro added the insurance in the 75th to the roaring approval of nearly 20,000 at the Parque Central stadium in the Uruguayan capital.
Nacional improved to 10 points, two more than of Velez and three ahead of third-place Internacional of Brazil with one game remaining. Nacional will need only a draw next week at Internacional to assure itself of advancing. Velez will host already eliminated Emelec.

Nacional controlled the match from the 25th minute, pinning Velez in its own half with frequent attacks from the left, right and center.
Velez goalkeeper Gaston Sessa batted away a header by Diego Jaume, but the rebound fell at the feet of Godin, who scored into an open net.
Nacional doubled its advantage when Jorge Martinez flicked the ball to Castro, who powered a left-footer just inside the right post.
