Michael Schumacher is going back to his roots after a triumphant and record-breaking Formula One season as he tries to qualify for the last round of the World Karting Championship. Schumacher decided to try to take part in the final round of the World Karting championship in the category where he started to learn his driving skills. When the final round of the go-kart world championship was called off at Suzuka, the organisers asked if the Ferrari driver could help out. Schumacher jumped at the chance of carrying on driving around in circles for a bit longer this season, particularly on home territory, now that Formula One has a testing ban in force until January. He wanted to participate in a big go-kart event and the German circuit was improved to stage the last round of the championship. Schumacher compares the excitement of go-karting to Formula One. And by the attention he gave to his machine number 30, this category of motor racing also involves a lot of fine-tuning and the need to drive on the edge. The 32-year-old is practicing hard only for the sheer love of the sport because he knows that even if he qualifies for the race, he is putting all the effort in a series he cannot win. Reigning kart world champion Davide Fore, who was second in the standings behind fellow Italian Vitantonio Liuzzi before Sunday's finale, said he was looking forward to beating Schumacher.
