Imola, Italy:
World champion Michael Schumacher may face disciplinary action for ignoring yellow warning flags during the Brazilian Grand Prix, the president of the auto racing governing body FIA said on Thursday. Max Mosley said Ferrari's German driver slid off the track during the third championship race at Interlagos - apparently overspeeding under heavy rain - as race stewards signalled to the drivers to slow down while workers were on the track to remove some wrecked cars. "There is a report from the FIA observer. It will be examined and if necessary, action will be taken," Mosley said. Disciplinary action can range from a fine to a race ban. Schumacher was expected to be questioned about the Brazilian incident by Charlie Whiting, the FIA race director, at the drivers briefing ahead of Friday's first qualifying for Sunday's San Marino GP. Ferrari officials had been critical of the Brazilian race organizers because a crane was on the edge of the corner when Schumacher spun off the track at a corner. Mosley also defended rule changes enforced this season to make the sport more spectacular - such as individual one lap qualifying - but ruled out other changes during the current season after talks with F1 team principals at Imola.
