Milan:
MotoGP team, Camel Honda, have officially launched their team for 2004 on Thursday in Milan, Italy. There to unveil the new bike for the 2004 season which starts in South Africa on April 18 were riders, Max Biaggi of Italy and Japan's Makoto Tamda. The RC211V has performed well in preseason testing and hopes are high that the bike and rider combinations will triumph over a competitive field that includes world champion Valentino Rossi in the new Yamaha. With all the glitz and glamour expected of a top flight race outfit, the bikes and riders of the Camel Honda team were paraded to the world's media and public in Italy. Rolling onto the stage at the Alcatraz discotheque in Milan aboard their bright yellow Honda RC211V machines, riders Max Biaggi and Makoto Tamada declared their common goal of winning the Teams and Riders MotoGP World Championship titles this season. Biaggi, who has four times won the 250 world championship and who finished third last season in the MotoGP class is happy with pre-season developements so far. During three days of testing in February at the Australian circuit of Phillip Island he smashed the lap record set by world champion Valentino Rossi at last year's race. This is Biaggi's second year with Camel and after finishing second in the teams' championship he is expecting more for 2004. Italian Max Biaggi, competing on Michelin tyres, has been runner up in the Championship three times and will once again start as a favourite to win the 2004 MotoGP title. His new teammate Makoto Tamada produced a superb MotoGP debut season last year finishing eleventh and taking his first ever MotoGP podium at the Rio Grand Prix in Brazil.
