Norway's world champion Petter Solberg won three consecutive stages in the afternoon to close the gap on leader Sebastien Loeb.

Norway's world champion Petter Solberg won three consecutive stages in the afternoon to close the gap on leader Sebastien Loeb on day one of the Rally of Great Britain in Wales on Friday. Solberg won the fifth, sixth and seventh stages to cut Loeb's overall lead to 8.4 seconds. Finland's Marcus Gronholm and Estonian Markko Martin were lying third and fourth respectively.
