Indo-ASEAN car rally enters Manipur

Participants in the first Indo-ASEAN cary rally arrived in Imphal today amidst tight security. Sources said India Reserve Battalion and other security personnel accompanied the rally participants, who crossed Manipur-Nagaland border town of Mao in Senapati district this morning. Police had earlier instructed the transporters and transport associations to strictly adhere to the restrictions imposed on them. All civilian vehicles have been asked to stop plying along Mao-Imphal-Moreh NH 39 from 7 am till the rally reaches the border town of Moreh. Chief Minister Ibobi Singh will flag off the rally this afternoon. Cultural programmes will be held at Khuman Lampak area here in honour of the rallyists. The rally would reach Moreh, about 120 kms south-east of here, around 5 pm (IST). From there they would enter Myanmar territory on way to their to Batam in Indonesia. (PTI)
