Tokyo:Asia PGA Tour star Jyoti Randhawa shot a two-under 70 to tie for the 22nd position after the opening round of the 150-million-yen Mitsui Sumitomo Visa Taiheiyo Masters in Japan. The other Indian in the fray, Jeev Milkha Singh, was tied 66th with a two-over 74. Randhawa, APGA Order of Merit leader in 2002, birdied the sixth, 14th, 16th and 18th but had bogeys on the 3rd and 13th. Jeev, a Nationwide Tour regular, had birdies on the first, second, ninth and 18th but these were overshadowed by dropped shots on the 4th, 5th, 13th, 14th, 15th and 17th. Meanwhile, two other Indian golfers -- Vijay Kumar and Uttam Singh Mundy -- were tied for the 38th position after the opening round of the USD 500,000 Volvo China Open which began at the par-72 Shanghai Silport Golf Club. Vijay and Uttam each had rounds of one over 73. (PTI)
