Jeev Milkha Singh turned in his best round of the week - a four-under 68 - to sign off at a creditable tied 23rd in the WGC-HSBC Champions on Sunday.
Coming on top of his 10th-place finish at the CIMB Classic in Malaysia the previous week, the Indian ace expressed happiness at his progress.
However, SSP Chowrasia (73), leader on the Asian Tour Order of Merit, finished way down in the 65th place.
Germany's Martin Kaymer staged a dramatic comeback firing a bogey-free nine-under 63 to win the title and move to fourth in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Sweden's Fredrik Jacobson, who held the overnight lead, closed with a 71 to take second place while Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell carded a 67 to take third place.
Jeev opened with a birdie on the 10th but gave that away on the next hole. He had two birdies on 13th and 14th and with rest of the back stretch providing pars, he turned in a score of two-under.
On the front nine, he bogeyed the first, birdied the second and again dropped a shot on fifth to leave him at one-under. He, however, found form with three birdies in a row from sixth to eighth and closed with a 68.
Jeev was happy with his performance and is looking forward to his events in Singapore and Malaysia.
"Anything you play well, you take it, whether it's the first round or last round. I think the last two days were much better than the first two days but I need to work a little more on the short game," said Jeev, who was Asia's number one in 2006 and 2008.
"I'm looking forward to the next two weeks especially in Singapore where I've good memories since I won there in 2008. I struggled with my putting over the last few weeks but I'm working on the right stuff and I think my putting is going to turn around," he added.
